FAQs for Online Classes via Zoom

Which platform do you use for online classes?

We use Zoom for all our one-on-one classes. It is a widely used and reliable platform that allows for high-quality video and audio, essential for effective music lessons.

What are the technical requirements for a smooth class?

To ensure a good learning experience, please make sure you have the following:

  • A stable internet connection: A minimum speed of 10-15 Mbps is recommended for smooth video and audio. A wired (Ethernet) connection is preferable over Wi-Fi for maximum stability.

  • A laptop or desktop computer: While a tablet or smartphone can work, a computer provides a better view and allows for easier adjustment of settings.

  • A good quality external microphone (recommended): While your computer's built-in mic will work, an external USB microphone can significantly improve the audio quality of your instrument. This allows the teacher to hear your playing more clearly.

  • Headphones or earphones: Using headphones prevents echoes and helps you hear the instructor's feedback and audio examples clearly.

  • A quiet space: Find a place free from background noise and distractions to get the most out of your lesson.

Do I need a Zoom account?

No, you do not need to create a Zoom account to join our classes. We will send you a unique meeting link via email or WhatsApp for each scheduled session. You just need to click on the link to join the class.

How do I set up my Zoom for music lessons?

For the best audio quality, we recommend adjusting your Zoom settings. This is a crucial step for music.

  • Enable "Original Sound for Musicians": By default, Zoom filters out background noise, which can also remove parts of your instrument's sound. To prevent this, go to your Zoom audio settings and enable "Original Sound."

  • Turn off "Automatically adjust microphone volume": This feature can cause your instrument's sound to fluctuate. It's best to disable it for a consistent audio level.

  • Use headphones: Remind your students to use headphones to prevent feedback and echo.

We will provide a simple guide or a quick check at the beginning of your first class to ensure your settings are correct.

What if I have technical problems during a class?

If you encounter any issues with audio, video, or connectivity, please inform your instructor immediately. They will try to help you troubleshoot the problem. If a solution isn't found, we can reschedule the class.

Can the classes be recorded?

For privacy and security reasons, we do not allow students to record the classes. However, we can discuss providing a brief summary or key takeaways after each session
